2003-2017

Project ECHO Launches First Education Initiative

In 2003, Project ECHO launched its virtual mentorship and education model for healthcare at The University of New Mexico. The Model quickly caught on, expanding nationally and globally.

In 2017, ECHO expanded its focus to include education in New Mexico, adapting its proven approach to support teacher capacity and student success.

2017-2018

New Education Programs Across New Mexico

ECHO launched X programs in X years, supporting classroom teachers, early childhood professionals, school leaders, counselors, nurses and interventionists. Every week, education professionals met with subject matter experts, building collaborative networks focused on translating evidence-based practices into improved outcomes for students.

2018-2022

Building Communities Across the State

ECHO education programs grew quickly, adding early childhood, K-12 and higher education. By 2022, more than 4,800 education professionals from 32 (of 33) New Mexico counties had attended ECHO sessions.

2022-2024

Measuring Impact: Educators and Students

Once ECHO’s reach had been firmly established, the program began rigorous evaluation efforts. Research projects now track participant-level outcomes and student-level results, strengthening the evidence base and demonstrating how sustained educator support translates directly into improved student achievement and educational equity.
