Focused on strengthening health systems across Africa through digital innovations and collaborations, Dr. Emmanuel Nzai leads the Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Board and the Africa Centre for Global Health Security. As the global health care workforce shortage continues to grow, Dr. Nzai provides Africa’s next generation of health care providers access to best practices and mentorship through Project ECHO. In addition, Dr. Nzai supports Africa’s global health security leaders by facilitating connections through the ECHO virtual learning networks.

Universities shape young minds – the next generation of leaders. At one university in Senegal, one professor is determined to see more women in leadership positions.

“If the professors do not want to touch the sky, then their students will not know how to reach that high,” says Professor Halimatou Diop-Ndiaye. She responded by creating a well-attended ECHO program on careers and leadership for women, providing crucial mentorship and skills to move forward.

WATCH: Kenyan Providers Fight Antimicrobial Resistance Through ECHO

Prescribing antibiotics too often, or for the wrong reasons, can change bacteria so that antibiotics don’t work.

Through the TEACH AMS ECHO Program, providers are working together to learn, and share, best practices to ensure antibiotics are prescribed appropriately.

“ECHO helps with the discussion that you might have limited resources, but you still end up managing the patient the correct way,” a Kenyan doctor says.

The Sustainable Development Response Organization upskills medical students and local health care providers during Sudan’s civil war, equipping local teams with the skills to respond to emergencies in the field with limited resources.

The Emergency Medical Services ECHO Program, launched by Seed Global Health and the Ugandan Ministry of Health, trains health care providers in emergency care best practices and builds emergency response capacity across communities.
